My love for cooking begins where it always begins, with my mother. I remember being 5 or 6, playing in my toy kitchen, cooking alongside my mother who was always making food for the family.
When I was older, I became glued to The Food Network. Jamie Oliver was my favorite to watch as he was so enthusiastic and creative with cooking, he really inspired me. Soon every birthday or Christmas present resulted in his latest cookbook. My cookbook collection has since out grown him, but I still find myself looking through his books for inspiration.
Last September, my boyfriend and I watched the documentary Cowspiracy. After it was over, we looked at each other and said, "I don't think I can consciously continue living this lifestyle", which was consuming animals and animal by-products. Right then and there, we decided to quit cold turkey.
Our transition to plant-based food was fairly easy. I did my research extensively, looking up vegan recipes and happy to find that there were so many beautiful vegan food blogs out there. As I became more versed with food alternatives, I started to get creative and build my own recipes.
Plant Tribe is my space where I can share these recipes with you. I hope you enjoy them as much I do.
